THE VIEUW

From my room there is the most amazing view. It's no beach in Bali or gaze from a sky scraper but: Nights in a row it will show the most amazing colours and cloud compositions. How something as simple as damp and light can create something so beautiful. It amazes me yet every time.

RHODODENDRON EYES

Previous week I had a fotoshoot with a student for a school assignment of hers.  A joining my makeup was done. The makeup artist used a bright pink and softened is down with a beige colour. I wish I could tell you exactly what she did but, guess what.., my eyes where closed. Padum tchhssss. I used to believe using a magenta colour makes my eyes look tired but this worked out quite well!! Here you see the result.

Ps: I wish my eyelashes where this long and intense. Unfortunately These ones where faked especially for the shoot.

MAGENTA ACCENTS

 

Finally a sunny spring day that I could go out and enjoy! Suddenly the sun and all the flowers along with it decided to pop up. I so enjoy these day's, they gives me an instant feeling of bliss. This also was the perfect weather to wear something different than my winter coat. So I pulled out my sunglasses, trench and put on my new pants. by the way, these were a steal at 6 euro's! (sale ofcourse). I saw them and could not resist. With only 10 minutes to spare I rushed to the fitting room and cash register.  I don't wear much red, but this magenta, bordeaux red colour has turned me around this last winter.

Today's occasion was to go thrift shopping with my mom. And I did get a score! Found two things that I am really pleased with.
1= a metallic sand coloured two piece suit. It's by Emperio Armani and only cost me 15 euro's. I am so exited about this one but the pants have to be tailored. So I will get an update on that later.
2= A see through flowered robe that I can wear over and outfit.  And it was only 6 euro's. oh yeah!

GREY SANDS

Last Saturday I went to the beach with my family. Of course the beach is not the most thought of place to visit during the month of January. Instead of catching some sun you go and 'catch' some wind. We had quite peculiar weather. There was a soft wind, sunny blue spots of sky and very heavy dark clouds. I think there was just enough wind to blow the rain away. Anyway perfect circumstances for photographing. I love the dramatic feel the dark clouds give the photographs. It almost seems to be taken in negative.  The soft dunes and the patterns in the sand are such a great contrast apposing to the heavy clouds. The captured water after the sea ebbed away creates a mirror that features the colours of the sky and dunes with a shiny texture.

PHOTOSHOOT MONDAY

It's no secret I love photography. Especially when I'm behind the camera but also when I am on the other side of the camera. I always find it interesting how a photograph can portrait the essence of a person or otherwise change it to what the photographer wants to capture. A few weeks ago I went to the school of arts in Utrecht to look at my boyfriend having his picture taken for a project. When a model stood up, one of the students I offered to help out and this is the result.I especially like the vintage feel.

CONNECTING ELSEWHERE

Sometimes you need to take the time to reconnect with yourself. Let go of all the worries and limitations.  For me this means taking my camera with me as i'm enjoying nature and the company of friends and family. So a reminder. Don't lose yourself within all restrictions.

HYPERBOREA

 Hyperborea is a place described in Greek mythology. This is a place beyond the northern wind and stands for a mystical place. It is supposed to be inhabited by a culture, living in everlasting spring and pure daylight, the people were blessed and long-lived. With this collection Ilja tried to  show a strong woman packing up her strength, knowledge to find the mystical place of hyperborea. You see this story in the softness of the fabrics and the straightens and roughness of the designs. You can even discover the ice-scape in the shoes.

A different line is the Ready to Fish. Wearable for daily use but still astonishingly beautifully designed.
